Recycling Waste
General construction and demolition waste and skip hire waste is recycled using the Redox system.
The beginning of recycling begins with manual sorting but taking mixed waste calls for a machical sorting process, capable of segragating multiple streams.
The Redox plant at our Ilkeston site became operational in February 2004 at a cost in excess of £1.4m.
This process involves a combination of mechanical and manual sorting which was developed in Holland where the cost of landfill disposal is currently over three times that in the UK.
The waste material is delivered to the Redox plant by our own vehicles or other companies where it is inspected before tipping. The waste is then deposited into a hopper and then to a series of powerful conveyors which sort the waste into it's respective categories through various machine processes such as a trommels, starscreens and windshifters.
Recycled material such as wood, glass and metal is deposited into bays beneath the picking station and recycled.
Hardcore is reused within the construction industry for ground works and road building. Soil is used for landscaping, metals and plastics are taken away and recycled for manufacturing and wood is processed further for the manufacture of chipboard and MDF.
Our waste management service is provided through our fleet of skips, roll on/off, articulated trucks and more via both our Burton-on-Trent and Ilkeston sites. Both are equipped with public weighbridges and the very latest 24hr CCTV security sytems for total peace of mind.
